Canara Bank, a leading public sector bank has released the official notification 2018-19 for the recruitment of Probationary officer (PO) in Junior Management Grade Scale-I after successful completion of PGDBF (Post Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance) course either through one of institutes, which are recognized by UGC. Canara Bank has released a total of 800 vacancies to fill for PO recruitment.

Canara bank has some eligibility criteria to select the candidates finally through the procedure for Probationary Officer (PO).
Canara Bank PO Educational Qualification
Must have a Degree (Graduation) with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PWBD) or equivalent grade, in any discipline from a University recognised by the Government of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. Result should be declared on or before 1st Oct 2018.

Canara Bank PO Nationality/ Citizenship

Canara Bank PO Selection Procedure
Selection process for Canara Bank PO consists of three rounds (i) online objective test followed by (ii) Group Discussion and (iii)Interview.
Canara Bank PO Exam Pattern
Canara Bank PO Online Objective Test will be conducted through IBPS, Mumbai. The online objective exam/ test pattern will be as shown below.
Point-1. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in Objective Test.
Point-2. Bank will decide the minimum cut-off marks for each subject as well as Total Score. Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each subject and also a minimum total score as decided by Bank to be considered for Group Discussion and Interview.
Point-3. Bank reserves the right to modify the structure of the examination which will be intimated through Bank’s website.
Point-4. Candidates reporting late i.e. after the reporting time specified on the Call Letter for Examination will not be permitted to take the examination.
Point-5. Depending on the number of vacancies, such of those candidates who rank sufficiently high in the order of merit in the online test as per the cut-off marks decided by the Bank will only be called in 1:3 ratio (for each post 3 candidates)
for Group Discussion and Interview.
Point-6. The total marks allotted for Group Discussion and for Interview are 50 each. The minimum qualifying marks in Group Discussion and Personal Interview will not be less than 40% for General Candidates (35% for SC / ST/ OBC / PWBD candidates).
Canara Bank PO Negative Marking
There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.
The weightage for online test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview shall be in the ratio of 50:20:30 respectively. The final merit list for selection will be on the basis of performance in Online Test, Group Discussion and Interview.
Canara Bank PO Probationary Period
On successful completion of PGDBF course, candidates joining the Bank as Probationary Officer in JMGS-I will be on probation for a period of one year from the date of joining the Bank.
Canara Bank PO Clerk Biometric Mismatch Problem
It has been decided to capture the biometric data (right thumb impression or otherwise) of the candidates on the day of the Online Test.
The biometric data of candidates will be verified at the end of the online test, on the day of the interview if shortlisted, at the time of joining if provisionally selected and at any point of time as decided by the Bank. Decision of the Biometric data verification authority with regard to its status (matched or mismatched) shall be final and binding upon the candidates.
Candidates are requested to take care of the following points in order to ensure smooth process:
– If fingers are coated (stamped ink / mehendi / coloured etc), ensure to thoroughly wash them so that coating is completely removed before the Online Test / Interview.
– If fingers are dirty or dusty, ensure to wash them and dry them before the finger print (biometric) is captured.
– Ensure fingers of both hands are dry. If fingers are moist, wipe each finger to dry them.
– If the primary finger (right thumb) to be captured is injured / damaged, immediately notify the concerned authority in the test centre. In such cases impression of other fingers, toes etc may be captured.
How to Apply Canara Bank PO Online Application Form
The eligible candidates are required to apply ON-LINE through Bank’s website www.canarabank.com. The link for registration of application will be open in our website on the dates indicated at the top of this advertisement.
1). All applicants should have a valid personal e-mail ID.
2). Candidates are required to visit the Bank’s website http://www.canarabank.com/english/careers/recruitment : click on the link “RP–1/2018 – Recruitment of Probationary Officers in JMGS-I on completion of specially designed PGDBF Course”.
3). Candidates are required to upload their photograph (200 x 230 pixels & 20kb–50 kb ) and signature (140 x 60 pixels & 10kb – 20kb).Signature in CAPITAL LETTERS shall NOT be accepted.
4). Candidates while filling their on-line application, the name of the candidate and his / her father / husband etc. should be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the certificates / mark sheets.
5). The candidates name in the online application should be as it appears in SSC/SSLC/X Standard Marks Card.
6). Candidates should fill all the fields in the on-line application. Candidates are advised to give their preference of online test centre.
7). Prior to submission of the online application candidates are advised to use the “SAVE AND NEXT” facility to verify the details in the online application form and modify the same if required. No change is permitted after clicking on FINAL SUBMIT Button.
8). A candidate should submit only one application. In case of multiple applications only the latest valid completed application will be retained and the application fee / intimation charges paid for the other multiple registration(s) will stand forfeited.
9). Finally pay the payment through online mode or challan and keep the print out of online application registration number and password safe for further reference.
