Dear Aspirants,

Constitution of India was acquired by the Constituent of Assembly on 26th November 1949 and came into effect on 26th January 1950. The date of 26 January was chosen to commemorate the Purna Swaraj declaration of independence 1930. That’s why, 26 January is also commemorate as Republic Day. Constitution of India is considered as the supreme law of India. This is an existing instrument and document that makes the government system to do work. Constitution of India is the longest written constitution of any sovereign country in the world. Dr. Bhim Rao ji Ambedkar is the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. It forms a structure that defines fundamental political principles, forms the framework, procedures, powers and duties of government institutions and lays out fundamental rights, directive principles and duties of citizens.

How many articles are in the Constitution of India in 2017?

In starting during the commencement of Indian Constitution, it was divided into 395 articles in 22 parts and 8 schedules. Due to longest constitution in India, this has now grown to 448 articles in 25 parts, 12 schedules with 5 appendices and 98 amendments.
