SSC CGL Tier 4 Syllabus and Pattern – CGL CEPT/DEST for CSS/MEA

Dear Aspirants,

Candidates who have successfully qualified Tier 1, 2, 3 would be eligible for Tier 4 Exams 2019. This test is simple than other tests that the candidates have given for Tier 1, 2, 3. In this stage, candidates have to clear data entry skill test(DEST) and then candidate finally passed the SSC CGL exam completely. Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) is also known as Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) .

Candidate will be able to pass the SSC CGL Tier 4 exam only when he/she types 8,000 words in one hour or 2,000 words in 15 minutes. This indicates that this stage has been introduced to check candidates Data Entry Speed in computer.

SSC CGL Tier 4 Exam Pattern 2018-2019

This stage of SSC CGL Tier 4 exam is for qualifying nature.
Tier 4 of SSC CGL is Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) / Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).
SSC CGL Tier 4 exam will held online computer based.
Two major skill sets are tested through SSC CGL Tier 4 Exam.

DEST : Candidates will given a English Passage and will need to type 2000 words (key depressions) in 15 minutes or 8,000 words (key depressions) per hour on a computer in English. Test for this stage is conducted to check a candidate’s writing skills. DEST is conducted for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise and Income Tax) .
CPT : This test is conducted to check the candidate’s proficiency in Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Generation of Slides i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint. CPT is for the post of Assistant Section Officer of CSS (Central Secretariat Service).

CSS Posts in SSC CGL

Central Secretariat Service (CSS) serves as the backbone of administrative work and provides permanent bureaucracy and functionary staff in the Central Government of India. Assistant Section Officer in Central Secretariat Service is an Assistant post offered through SSC CGL.

SSC CGL Selection Procedure

Candidates who have qualified in Tier 1 as per the cutoff marks fixed by the commission would only be eligible to appears in SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam.
The marks obtained by the candidates in Tier 1 and Tier 2 would determine the eligibility of the candidates to appear in Tier 3 and Tier 4.
Final merit list of successful candidates would be determine on the basis of total score obtained by them in Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-3.
Successful Candidates will be provided appointment on the basis of preferences of posts and ranks.

List-III : Candidates qualified for SSC CGL Tier-3 for Junior Statistical Officer (Grade-II) – Only document Verification

Are there typing tests in Income Tax Inspector and Excise Inspector by SSC CGL ?

There is not any typing test requires for the post of Income Tax Inspector and Excise Inspector in SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam.
Typing Test is conducted for the post of ‘Tax Assistant’ in CBEC/ CBDT in SSC CGL. It is called as ‘Data Entry Speed‘ skill test of qualifying nature at 2000 key depressions (words) in 15 minutes.
However, post of ‘Tax Assistant’ is a lower grade post (Grade Pay 2400 in 6th CPC, scale 4 in 7th CPC) than ‘IT/Exceise Inspector’ (Grade pay 4600 in 6th CPC,scale 7 in 7th CPC).
