For SSC CHSL Tier-1 Exam – 13th March 2018 shift 1, this subject was of Moderate level. Mostly questions were based on direct formulas and some were calculative.

1.  α +  β = 90° and α × β = 2 : 1 Then what will be the ratio of cos α and cos β ?
Ans –  α : β = 2 : 1
α +  β = 90°
↓      ↓
60°   30°
cos60° = 1 / 2
cos30° = √3 / 2
cos60° / cos30° = 1 /  √3

2. The simple interest on a certain sum at 5 % per annum for 3 years differ by Rs.21. then the  sum is
Ans – Interest for one  year = Rs21
Time = 1 years
Rate = 5 %
Principal =[ (Interest × 100 ) / ( Rate × Time ) ] = [ ( 21 × 100) / ( 5 × 1) ] =2100 / 5 = Rs.420

3. The radius of base and curved surface area of a right cylinder is ‘ r’ units and 4πrh square units respectively. find the height of cylinder ?
Ans – Curved Surface area of cylinder = 2πrH
2πrH = 4πrh
H = 2h units

4. The perimeter and length of a rectangle are 40 m and 12 m respectively. what will be area of rectangle ?
Ans –  Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 ( L+B )
40 = 2( 12 + B )
20 = (12 + B)
B= 8 , given L = 12
Area of rectangle = L  ×  B
= 12 × 8 = 96 m2
