SSC CPO SI/ASI Syllabus 2018 , Exam Pattern, Selection Procedure

Dear Aspirants,

SSC has already released the updated syllabus, exam pattern as well as the selection process for the recruitment of Sub Inspector (SI) in CAPF, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in CISF & Sub Inspector (SI) in Delhi Police. SSC CPO Paper 1 Exam will take place from 4th June to 10th June 2018 in various shifts. This will be a computer Based Test (CBT).

SSC CPO Exam Pattern

  • There are two papers in the Examination. Paper – 1 will be online and Paper – 2 will be online.
  • Question in both papers will be objective multiple choice type questions.

SSC CPO Paper 1 Exam Pattern

The SSC CPO Paper 1 Exam will be conducted from 4th June to 10th June 2018. So Guys start the preparation for the Paper 1 as it is almost 1 month left for the exam.

  • Paper 1 (Tier-1) has four sections. You can check the below table for complete details.
  • Paper 1 will be online consisting 200 questions for 200 marks.
  • You will be given 2 hours to answer questions.
  • Each correct answer will add +1 marks to total and wrong answer will deduct -0.25 mark from total.

(B) Physical Endurance Test (PST) – For all Posts

(i) For male candidates only

a) 100 meters race in 16 seconds
b) 1.6 Kms race in 6.5 minutes
c) Long Jump : 3.65 metres in 3 chances
d) High Jump : 1.2 metres in 3 chances
e) Shot put (16 Lbs): 4.5 metres in 3 chance

(ii) For male candidates only

a) 100 metres race in 18 seconds
b) 800 metres race in 4 minutes
c) Long Jump: 2.7 metres in 3 chances.
d) High Jump: 0.9 metres in 3 chances.

SSC CPO Paper-2 Exam Pattern

  • Paper-2 will be of English language & Comprehension and it will be offline.
  • There will be 200 questions awarded 200 marks.
  • Total time duration is 2 hours.

SSC CPO Medical Test – For All Posts

Selection Criteria for the Medical Test is given below.

  • Minimum Near Vision : N6 (better eye) and N9 (worse eye)
  • Minimum Distant Vision : 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye)
  • Candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes
  • Eye standards should be without visual correction of any kind even by glasses.
  • Finally selected candidates for the posts of Sub-Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspector would, as part of
    training curriculum, have to pass seven obstacle events as mentioned below, failing which they may not be
    retained in the Force:

i) Jumping over the Vertical Board;
ii) Holding the rope on jumping from the Board.
iii) Tarzan Swing;
iv) Jumping on the Horizontal Board;
v) Parallel Rope;
vi) Monkey Crawl;
vii) Vertical Rope.

English Comprehension

Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and writing ability etc. would be tested.

SSC CPO Paper-2 Syllabus

  • SSC CPO 2018 Paper 2 will only consist of English.
  • Paper 2 Exam will be descriptive.

Questions in this components will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on

  • Error recognition
  • Filling in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc.)
  • Vocabulary
  • Spellings
  • Grammar
  • Phrases
  • Synonyms / Antonyms
  • Idiomatic use of Words
  • Comprehension etc.

Note : Only those candidates who qualified in PET / PST will be called for Paper-2 and the Medical Exam would be conducted subsequently.

Necessary Aspects For SSC CPO SI/ASI Candidates

  1. There will be No Interview for SI, ASI Posts in Delhi Police. Selection will be based on marks of Paper 1 & Paper 2.
  2. In additional “The Commission reserves the right to add and additional Tier in the scheme of Examination.”
  3. Deduction of 0.25 marks will be made for each incorrect answer.

SSC CPO 2018 Selection Process

Step 1 : Those candidates, who have scored above the cut off marks fixed by the Commission in Paper-1 would be required to appear in the Physical Endurance Test/ Medical Examination.

Step 2 : Only those candidates, qualified in PET/ PST and found medically fit will be allowed to appear in Paper-2.

Step 3 : Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their total marks in the Written Examination in Paper-1 & 2.

Step 4 : On the basis of their performance in Paper-I+Paper-II, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Medical Examination. Candidates, who are successful in Medical Examination, will be called for detailed Document Verification.

Step 5 : Candidates will be recommended for appointment by the Commission on the basis of total marks in the Written Exam. There will be no interview component.

SSC CPO 2018 Job Profile Preference

A candidate is required to indicate in his/ her Application Form, name of Post for which he/ she would like to
be considered in order of preference. The code for various posts are as follows:
A Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police
B Sub-Inspector in Border Security Force (BSF)
C Sub- Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
D Sub-Inspector in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
E Sub- Inspector in Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBPF)
F Sub-Inspector in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
G Assistant Sub-Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
Note: Fresh option for preference of various posts/ forces will be taken at the time of document verification.
