Bharat Ratna Award Winner List With Full Details
‘Bharat Ratna‘ is the India’s highest award given to a civilian. It is awarded for the highest degrees of national service. This service includes artistic, literary and scientific achievements, as well as public service. It is instituted on 2 January, 1954 by the president Rajendra Prashad of India . This is provided by the President of India of 26 January. any persion without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex is eligible for this award.
- This award can be provided to a foreigner.
- 48 personalities were honoured with Bharat Ratna so far. Recommendation were made by the prime minister to President of India.
- This award can be provided after the death of a person. It is provided to a 14 people after the death till now.
- Bharat Ratna can be provided only to a maximum of Number of three people in a year.
- This award is closed by The Janta Party In 1977, but it rebegan by the Congress Government in the year 1980. after the rebeginning of of Bharat Ratna, This is provided to Mother Taresha first of all in 1980.
- Recipients of Bharat Ratna receives a Sanad(Certificate) signed by the president and a peepal leaf-shaped meda; There is no monetary grant associated with the award.
- The First three recipient of Bharat Ratna were C. Rajagopalchari, Dr. S. Radhakrishan and Dr. C. V. Raman in 1954 while Khan Abdul Ghaffer Khan was the first foreigner to be honoured with this award in 1987.
- Lal bhadur Shastri became the 1st Individual to be honoured with Bharat Ratna Posthumously.
About the Peepal- Leaf- Shaped Medallion
The decoration is about 5.8 cm long, 4.7 cm wide and 3.2 mm thick It is of toned bronze. The medal is made with a metal of copper. It has of two sides Front and Back.
