Indian Army Recruitment 2018 For SSC – Eligibility Criteria
Criteria 1: Age Limit
SSC(T) Men & SSCW(T) Women
- Minimum Age : 20 Years
- Maximum Age : 27 Years
Widows of Defence Personnel
- Maximum Age : 35 Years
Criteria 2: Education Qualification
SSC(T) Men & SSCW(T) Women
- B.Tech/B.E in any stream from a recognised university.
- Candidates studying in the Final Year of Engineering degree course and should be able to produce proof of passing by 1st October 2018 and produce Engineering Degree within 12 weeks of joining at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Widows of Defence Personnel
- SSCW(Non tech) & (Non UPSC) : Candidates should be have a graduate degree from a recognised university.
- SSCW(Tech) : Candidates should be have B.E/B.Tech degree in any stream from a recognised university.
Criteria 3: Physical Standard
Height : 157.5 cms
For Assamese/Gorkhas/Nepalese/Garhawalus : Relaxed by 5 cms
For Residents of Lakshwdeep : Relaxed by 2 cms
Weight : In proportion to the height
Indian Army Recruitment 2018 For SSC – Selection Process
The Selection process for Indian Army Recrutment for SSC(Engg & Technician) comprises of below four steps.
1. Shortlisting of Applications
- There will be a fix cutoff percentage of marks for each engineering discipline/stream without assigning any reason. Indian Army Recruitment Board/Division will shortlist the applications on the basis of Candidate’s Educational Qualification.
- Once Candidate get shortlisted, Candidate will be intimated by the board through Email.
- If Candidate get selected, Candidate will have to appear for SSB Interview for which Candidate will have to select the SSB Interview date on first come first serve basis.
2. SSB Interview
- Eligible candidates for SSB Interview will be be interviewed at one of the exam centres in Allahabad(UP), Bhopal(MP), Bangalore(Karnataka), Kapurthala(Punjab).
- Interview will be conducted in two stages.
- Interview process is long and will take 5 days atleast.
- If Candidates couldn’t qualify Stage I, Candidates will be sent back on the same day.
3. Medical Examination
- If Candidate qualify SSB Interview, Candidate will be called for Medical Examination.
- Only if Candidate will be found ‘Fit’ during the Medical Examination, Candidate will be considered eligible for this post.
4. Final Selection
Based on score obtained in SSB Interview, higher educational qualification, previous performances, NCC background (if any), Final list of Selected Candidates have to be declared by SSB/ Division.

Indian Army Recruitment 2018 For SSC – Training
- Selected Candidates will be subjected to undergo a training for 49 weeks at Officers Training Academy, Chennai.
- Candidate will not be allowed to have marriage during the period of training .
- Training at OTA is at government expense.
- Candidate will be awarded with a “Post graduate Diploma in Defence Management & Strategic Studies” by University of Madras after completion of the training.
Tenure of Engagement
Short Service Commission(SSC) to Officers in the regular Army will be for 14 years with initial period of 10 years and extendable by 4 years.
