CDS 2 2017-2018 Written Exam Result Declared

Hi Aspirants,

CDS 2 Result 2017: Union Public Service Commission has released the result of Combined Defence Services Exam on January 1, 2018. The CDS exam was held on November 19, 2017. 8692 candidates have been qualified for the interview which will be conducted on different dates in Feb/March 2018.

On the basis of the results of the COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES EXAMINATION (II), 2017 held by the Union Public Service Commission on 19th November, 2017, 8692 candidate have qualified for being interviewed by the Service Selection Board.

UPSC conducts the Combined Defense Services (CDS) Examination twice in a year for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Indian Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy. This year the UPSC CDS 2 exam was held on 19th November 2017. The results of the written examination have been declared in the month of January 2018 and the interview will be held within the next couple of months (February / March) from then. Unmarried graduates are the only ones allowed to sit for the examination.

Interview Process :

  • During SSB the qualified candidates go through several psychological(mind state) and physical tests.
  • These tests are done to evaluate how much of officer qualities are present in the candidate, only candidates who have qualified for the Air Force Academy (only the ones who have applied for flying branch) has to take a Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) along with the SSB interview.
  • Once these tests are completed, candidates undergo a medical examination before finally getting admission into any of the academies mentioned above.
  • Once the tests are completed successfully then they are drafted into the Indian Armed Forces.

Long Time for System of Selection :

  • It takes four to five days. Thus, it’s based on an objective assessment of each candidate.
  • Qualities like alertness, judgement, courage, cooperation, physical fitness endurance, decisiveness, group planning, knowledge, decisiveness, etc. are evaluated.
  • Along with that, mental and psychological strength of the applicants according to the requirements of the Armed Forces is evaluated and lastly a comprehensive assessment of the candidate’s personality is done with the help of extensive personal interviews.
