UPSC IAS 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
For IAS, Indian Foreign Services and IPS , candidate must be a citizen of India
For other Services, A candidate mus be either a Citizen of India, Nepal or Bhutan.
Age Limit
Minimum Age – 21 Years
Maximum Age – 32 Years
The Upper age limit will be relaxed in case of the following categories.
SC/ ST – 5 years
OBC- 3 years
Ex- serviceman – 5 years
PwD – 10 Years
Education Qualification
Candidate must have passed degree in any stream from a recognized university incorporated by an Act of the central or State Legislature in India.
Number of attempts
Number of attempts refers to a candidate how much time a candidate appeared in the UPSC Exam
For General candidate – 6 Attempts
For OBC Candidate – 9 Attempts
For SC / ST Candidate – No Restrictions
Physical standard
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Civil Services Examination, 2020 as per guidelines given in Appendix-III of Rules for Examination published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary.
UPSC IAS 2021 Selection Process
The selection process for UPSC IAS 2021 comprises of two stage Examination
Preliminary Exam
The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each.
Note :
(i) Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions) and each will be of two hours duration.
(ii) The General Studies Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
(iii) The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English.
(iv) Details of the syllabi are indicated in Part A of Section III
Mains Exam
Mains exam consists of written and Interview. The written exam will consists of the following papers.
