Railway (RRB) ALP Syllabus & Exam Pattern 2018 (CBT Stage 1 & 2)

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will recruit 26,502 young and talented aspirants for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Technicians. RRB ALP & Technician Selection process is mainly consist of 4 phases. In first phase, a common test (CBT) will be held for both Assistant Loco Pilot & technician 2018.

RRB ALP & Technician Selection Procedure

RRB ALP & Technician Selection procedure have been described below. Check it and let us know in case of any discrepancies.

ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) Phases 

• 1st Stage CBT
• 2nd Stage CBT
• Computer Based Aptitude Test (AT).
• Document Verification and Empanelling of Candidates.

Technician Phases

• 1st Stage CBT
• 2nd Stage CBT
• Document Verification and Empanelling of Candidates.

Note : Marks will be normalized/ considered in all stages of exam.

RRB ALP Exam Pattern 2018 : Stage 1 (CBT)

First Stage exam will be of qualifying in nature i.e. score of first stage exam shall be used only for short listing of candidates for Second stage exam. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the Computer Based Test (CBT) Exam Pattern for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) & Technicians which is expected to be scheduled from 9th August 2018.

• Multiple Choice Objective Type Questions (MCQs).

• No. of candidates to be shortlisted for the second stage shall be 15 times the community wise total vacancy of ALP and Technician Posts.

Section B

This section B is only qualifying in nature.

• Questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET).
• Qualifying Marks – 35% i.e. applicable to all candidates & no relaxation is permissible.

Section B Syllabus

• Candidates with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualification will be required to appear in the section having questions from the relevant trade.
• Candidates holding Degree, Diploma and HSC (10+2) having eligibility for the posts of ALP have to select relevant trade from the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline/HSC (10+2).

RRB ALP Computer Based Aptitude Test – Only for Candidates who have opted for ALP

• The candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify.
• Applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible.
• No negative marking in Computer Based AT.
• The ALP merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the Aptitude Test, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the Section A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in Computer Based AT.
• Candidates equal to 8 times number of ALP vacancies for each of the communities i.e. UR, OBC-NCL, SC and ST (including ExSM) shall be short listed for Computer Based AT (based on their performance in Section A of the Second Stage CBT subject to their qualifying the Section B of Second Stage CBT).
• Such shortlisted candidates should produce the Vision Certificate in the prescribed format as per Annexure – VI in original during Computer Based AT, failing which they will not be permitted to appear in the Computer Based AT.

Selected based on the performance of candidates in Section A of the Second Stage CBT subject to their qualifying the Section B of Second Stage CBT.

RRB ALP Document Verification

Selected based on the performance of candidates in both Section A of the Second Stage CBT and Computer Based AT subject to their qualifying the Section B of Second Stage CBT.
