As you all know that SSC CGL Tier-1 Examination is going to held from 2nd – 11th March 2020. It is very mandatory for you to speed up your preparation to ace the exam. SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam is necessary to give for all the posts and its marks will be further added into merit list. If you do not clear cut off of Tier-1 exam, then you are not eligible for Tier-2. You have to start preparation for the Tier-1 exam first . That’s why it is very essential to know the detailed SSC CGL Tier-1 Syllabus.
Latest Update : SSC CGL Tier-1 (Preliminary) Exam will be conducted from 2nd to 11th June 2020.

Staff Selection Commission has today released the date of SSC CGL Exam for all tier-1,2,3.

SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam Pattern
Major sections asked in SSC CGL Tier-1 2019-20 (Preliminary) Exam are Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language.

Negative Marking : 0.25 Marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in the Tier-1 Exam.
- SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam 2020 is an online mode of examination i.e. computer based.
- Total marks allotted for all 4 sections is 200.
- Total time allotted for the completion of all 4 sections of Tier-1 exam is 60 mins.
- A cumulative time of 80 minutes is allotted to physically handicapped students.
- Questions will be Objective MCQ Based.

It will include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type.

Expected Weightage : 1-2 questions
Question Types : Find the missing number from the given matrix or diagram.

(5) Blood Relations
Expected Weightage : 0-1 questions
Question Types : Family Tree or General Blood Relation Problems

Question Types : Very Simple, Easily solved by just drawing all information on paper.

(7) Arranging words in Logical order or Dictionary order
Expected Weightage : 1-2 questions
Question Types : Meaningful order of doing a certain task or following a certain rules, Words need to be arranged according to dictionary sequence in ascending or descending order.

(8) Word Formation
Expected Weightage : 0-1 questions
Question Types : Find out the given option words can be formed or not from the given word.

(9) Coding Decoding
Expected Weightage : 2-3 questions
Question Types : Coding by Analogy, Coding and decoding by letter shifting & coding letter of a Word. Could also include Coding and Decoding in fictitious language.

(10) Puzzle
Expected Weightage : 2-3 questions
Question Types : Number based puzzles like 7×5×6×5 = 6575, then 8×7×4×6 = ? . Find the correct equation type questions or quant based questions like on age, speed and distance or Seating arrangement questions.

(11) Matrix
Expected Weightage : 0-1 questions
Question Types : 1 or 2 Matrix of letters with numbers are given from which correct set of numbers for given word is to find out.
Level : May be time consuming, High Accuracy possible, Easy to solve
(12) Venn Diagram
Expected Weightage : 1-3 questions
Question Types : Questions based on Venn Diagram, Types of Question : Represent the relation between Student, Teacher and Boys, Syllogisms.

(13) Verbal Reasoning
Expected Weightage : 0-1 questions
Question Types : Question from Statements and Conclusions, Statements and Arguments, Course of Action, Statements and Assumptions, Assertion and Reason can also be asked.
Level : Time Consuming, May be tricky
(14) Non Verbal Reasoning
Expected Weightage : 3-4 questions
Question Types : Questions like Complete the pattern, Mirror Image, Assemble Image, Hidden Image, Counting Figures, Figure based Analogy/ Classification/ Series or cube based questions can also be asked.

Question Types : Questions related to Correct use of Prepositions, Parallelism, Phrasal Verbs, Sentence Construction, Degree of Comparison, Correct use of different parts of speech,Tense, Subject-Verb Agreement, Article-Noun Agreement.
Level : More time consuming, Moderately Scoring, Moderate Accuracy may be possible
(2) One Word Substitution
Expected Weightage : 3-5 questions
Question Types : Substitute one word for the given phrase. Solve the list of one word substitutions from past papers.
Level : Less time consuming, Moderately to High Scoring Possibility, Moderate to high Accuracy may be possible

Question Types : Questions based on mix of grammar and vocabulary. Need to read topics related to Tenses, Subject-Verb Agreement, Article-Noun Agreement, Correct use of Prepositions, Correct part of Speech, Correct use of different parts of speech, Degree of Comparison, Parallelism, Phrasal Verbs, Sentence Construction, Easily confused words, Usage in Context, Avoid guessing too much in these questions. Question Types : Meaning can be asked directly or can also be asked in a sentence.

Question Types : Select the correctly spelt word or misspelled word from different word given in options. Candidate has been asked to choose correct spelling from words spelled in different ways.

Expected Weightage : 5 questions (1 passage)
Question Types : Passage can be on any topics. Questions are mostly fact based & can be directly picked out of the passage. Sometimes vocabulary questions are asked on commonly used words.
