What if full form of UGC Net?

University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test. It is is a national-level exam conducted in order to determine the eligibility of candidates for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor post in Indian universities and colleges. Till June 2018, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted NET on behalf of UGC. However, from December 2018 onwards National Testing Agency (NTA) started conducting the UGC NET exam.

National Testing Agency has merged the examination for December 2020 and June 2021. Now, the examination of both the sessions will be held simultaneously from 6 October to 11 October 2021. Due to Corona, there was a delay in the conduct of the examination of December 2020 session and the process of application for June 2021, hence the examination of both the sessions is being conducted simultaneously. The application process for the UGC NET exam to be held in October has started. Interested candidates can apply online by visiting ugcnet.nta.nic.in and nta.ac.in.

The last date for application is 5 September 2021. The last date for fee payment is 6 September 2021. Candidates will be able to make corrections in their application form between September 7 and September 12.

Earlier the UGC NET exam of December 2020 session was scheduled to be held from May 2 to May 17, 2021. But it was postponed due to Corona. The application process for UGC NET December 2020 was held in February-March 2021.Such candidates who have registered for the UGC NET December 2020 examination but could not submit the application completely can also complete the application by visiting https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in, www.nta.ac.in.

The examination will be conducted in two shifts from October 6 to October 11. The first shift will be from 9 am to 12 noon and the second shift will be from 3 pm to 6 pm. The exam will be conducted in computer based (CBT) mode. There will be two papers in this test. Both the papers will have multiple choice questions.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test for Junior Professor Fellowship and Assistant Professor is conducted twice a year, usually in June and December, in universities and other higher education institutions across the country. In the year 2020, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the conduct of June examination was delayed and later NTA conducted the examination from 16 September to 18 September and 21 September to 25 September.  Due to the delay of June exam, the conduct of UGC NET December 2020 exam was also delayed. The application process for UGC NET December 2020 took place in February-March 2021.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2021

Candidates must apply the UGC NET after meeting the eligibility Criteria –

  • Candidates should secure at least 55% aggregate marks in post-graduation.
  • Candidates should not be more than 31 years of age in order to be eligible for JRF
  • There is no age restriction to apply for the post of Assistant Professor
  • 5% relaxation in educational qualification is given to reserved category candidates
  • A relaxation of five years in age criteria is given to reserved category candidates
  • Candidates who have cleared State Eligibility Test (SET) before June 1, 2002 are exempted from taking the UGC NET exam

How to Apply for UGC NET Application form?

NTA has declared the UGC NET 2021 application process for the merged December 2020-June 2021 cycles. Eligible candidates can apply online now for the UGC NET exam. Candidates can fill the UGC NET application form by following the given steps:

Visit the website- ugcnet.nta.nic.in . You will see the link bottom of website page for UGC NET (i.e. Application Form UGC-NET December 2020 and June 2021 Cycles). Or click on the link. If candidates has already application number, they can sign in directly using application number and password. Otherwise click on New Registration link and register.

Step 1 – Register for Online Application Form and note down system generated Application Number. The candidate should supply all the details while filling the Online Application Form and is also required to create PASSWORD and choose Security Question and enter his/her Answer. After successful submission of the personal details, Application number will be generated and it will be used to complete the remaining Steps of the Application Form and will also be required for all future correspondence. For subsequent logins, candidate will be able to login directly with the respective system generated Application Number and created Password.

Step 2 – Complete the Application Form Candidate can login with the system generated Application Number and created Password for completing the Application Form.

Step 3 – Upload Scanned Images of Candidate Photograph and Candidate Signature 

  • The photograph should be recent and coloured or black/white (but clear contrast).
  • Scanned photograph and signature should be in JPG/JPEG format.
  • Size of scanned photograph should be between 10 kb to 200 kb.
  • Size of scanned signature should be between 4 kb to 30 kb.

Note : Upload the correct Photograph and Signature as the facility for correction will not be given.

Step 4 – Pay Examination Fee by Debit/Credit Card/UPI/Net Banking/PAYTM :
